Decision making is very important in management and is the main task of a leader (manager). Decision making (decision making) is processed by decision making (decision maker) which results in a decision (decision).

Decisions of Decision Making by Some Experts:

G. R. Terry: Decision-making can be defined as "the choice of an alternative behavior from two or more alternatives".
Drs. H. Malayu S.P Hasibuan: Decision making is a process of determining the best decision from a number of alternatives to carry out activities in the future.
Harold Koontz and Cyril O'Donnel: Decision-making is the choice between alternatives about how to act - is the essence of planning. A plan can be said to be non-existent, if there is no decision on a source that can be trusted, instructions or reputation that has been made.

Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that decision making is the process of selecting alternative solutions to problems. In general, decision making is an attempt to solve problems by choosing alternative solutions that exist.

Factors related to Decision Making

To determine the choice of various theories of decision making whether rational, incremental or integrated observation with several alternative options available. Of course each must have a basis (values, norms, or certain guidelines) that is used as a basis for determining the right choice of theory.

According to Terry (1989) in the Diamond Community blog factors that must be considered in making the following decisions:

Tangible and intangible things, emotional or rational need to be taken into account in decision making;
Every decision must later be used as material to achieve organizational goals;
Every decision should not be oriented to personal interests, pay attention to the interests of others;
There is rarely a satisfying choice;
Decision making is a mental action. From this mental action then it must be converted into physical action;
Effective decision making takes a long time;
Practical decision making is needed to get good results;
Every decision should be developed, so that it can be known whether the decision taken is correct; and
Each decision is the initial action of a series of subsequent activities.

Then there are six other factors that also influence decision making:

Physical
Based on the taste experienced in the body, such as discomfort, or pleasure. There is a tendency to avoid behavior that causes feelings of displeasure, instead choosing behavior that gives pleasure.

Emotional
Based on feelings or attitudes. People will react in a situation subjectively.

Rational
Based on the knowledge of people getting information, understanding the situation and its consequences.

Practical
Based on individual skills and ability to carry out. A person will assess their potential and self-confidence through their ability to act.

Interpersonal
Based on the influence of existing social networks. The relationship between one person to another can affect individual actions.

Structural
Based on social, economic and political scope. The environment may provide results that support or criticize a particular behavior.
