A Democratic official who has spoken to Al Franken and key aides says Franken will resign his Minnesota Senate seat on Thursday, the official tells MPR News.
The official spoke to Franken and separately to Franken's staff. A staff member told the official that Franken had gone to his Washington home to discuss his plans with family.
As this news is breaking another women has come out and said she Mr. Franken tried to kiss her while she worked for his radio show back in 2006. Franken snuck up behind her and when she turned around he tried to kiss her, she quickly ducked out of the way and headed for the door while Franken said "It’s my right as an entertainer”. Not sure what he meant when he said that but it sounds like something an arrogant movie star or politician would say to someone.
While this incident could be a misunderstanding on Franken's part it does show a pattern of behavior against women he's working with that could be describe as sexual harassment. My guess is that he's not resigning because this new allegation tipped the scale but he's probably resigning because more women might come forward with even worse claims like he raped them. That would be my guess because he came out said he wasn't resigning for the photo groping incident.
