You mean it is great to send slaves into an arena and fight for their lives or see them been eaten by lions? It was for sure not that heroic and glamorous as you have in mind. People yelling and watching how one was killed. It was not a time people just fought for honour or get over payed to do so and loved to be a sportsman.
