I woke up early today, but not early enough to send my daughter to the bus stop. I woke up to my husband calling, and letting me know that my breakfast was ready and that he was leaving for an important meeting at my daughter's school. I got out of bed, washed my face, ate breakfast, and scrolled on my phone. Just an ordinary morning.
I saw heartbreaking news about the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that happened in Mindanao. I also saw other devastating posts not related to the earthquake, but from other people who have lost a friend or a relative. I suddenly paused and stopped scrolling. My mind can't process all the negative emotions. My heart was racing. I can't really explain why.
So I grabbed my camera and scrolled through my photos. I have photos of birds, flowers, trees, and clouds. Those photos calmed my mind and brought me back to my senses.
These photos were taken on a hot summer afternoon. I was on the balcony looking at the garden. Every day, while sipping coffee, yes, a cup of hot coffee in summer. 😁 I always look forward to snapping the fluffy clouds, blue sky, and the stunning sunset. I then realized that not everyone has the chance to see another sunrise again. Not everyone has the privilege to look up and enjoy every cloud formation in the sky.
My day was simple and ordinary, but I am thankful for the chance to see another morning. For the chance to eat the breakfast my husband prepared. For the chance to hear the birds sing in the backyard. For the chance to continue living this ordinary life.
For the people in Mindanao who were affected by the earthquake, I hope you guys are coping well. Your struggles will pass, and I will continue praying for everyone's safety. Don't lose hope! 💗
