Farm is always a good place to visit, wheather that be to get some fresh air into my lungs or as simple as getting some free range eggs.
I know, not everyone likes eggs or eats them due to certain diet, and I respect their choices. I for one love eggs, and if they are not free range eggs but from a caged hen, that I won't buy! I'm against animal cruelty and caged hens are going through just that!
I was surprised to find out that there are many farms scatered around the area. So, without a hesitation I've located one that has good health and environmental standards, and made it my farm to go to. Once a week, every Thursday, I'll make a 10 mile journey to buy a substantial amount of eggs as well as other provisions such as pitted goods, jams and more.
UK standards of what is requested from a farm are becoming tougher, but all that is slightly worrying farmers. Why?! Because the government is thinking about going into new deals with overseas countries, which will see an import of various products which will be cheaper and thus farms will start to struggle supplying their own to the market. How and what will happen with months and years go by is everyone's guess.
Farm that I go to has quite an enormous area for theur farm animals to roam free. Hens are a part of those free roaming animals. They are fed with organic food as well as whatever they pick up from the ground outside their pen or enclosure to which they retreat to rest or hide from stormy weather. Area that's just for hens is big, of which a small part is muddy and the rest is greenery. Not one single hen is ever sold for to end up on a plate and the farm raises their own animals as much as possible. I would say this farm is like a little sanctuary for animals in its own way.

I thought I'll include this cute photo of young piglets, even though they are irrelevant to my egg orientated post. They have many piglets roaming around but are fast and many photo's ended up blurry, except for this little couple.
RSPCA (The Royal Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has constant visits to farms around the UK and follows strict rules to what's allowed! This is so important in today's environment, and with everything changing rapidly, we can be thankful that animals are being looked after to the point of full closures of farms that don't abide by their rules!
I think it's a good idea to support many different suppliers, especially if they're as local and highly rated as the one that I support in this case.
