It is learned that in March 2011, Dutch-Bangla Bank launched mobile banking services for the first time in the country. So far, Bangladesh Bank has sanctioned the services of 28 banks in 57 banks. Of these 20 bank services can be started, but the next time the two bank services are closed. As a result, the number of mobile banking service providers has dropped to 18. In November 2013, the number of subscribers registered with this service was one million.
According to the latest published information from the Department of Payment of Bangladesh Bank, according to the latest financial data of the country's mobile financial services (MFS) till March last, the number of subscribers has increased to 6,50,122 thousand. Of these, only registered subscribers increased by 5 lakh 7 thousand in March.
This service agent, known as mobile banking, rose to 8 lakh four thousand 610 in March. In February this number was 7 lakh 96 thousand 734.
As a result, the agent increased by 7,876 people in March.
Although the registered subscriber grew, the active accounts of this service are comparatively low. In March, only one-third subscriber accounts were registered in the registered subscriber. In March last year, the active accounts were two million and two thousand 62 thousand.
Although the number of mobile banking transactions increased in March compared to February, the amount was less. In February, there were more than 160 million transactions, which amounted to 28,445 crore taka. On the other hand, more than 18 million 10 million transactions were made in March, which had a monetary amount of Tk 31.39 billion. The average daily turnover in March was 1111 million taka
According to the Bangladesh Bank, in March this year, the services of gas and electricity bill payments increased by 29 percent. Vendor organization's payout bills increased 6.5 percent. Wages and allowances increased 4.5 percent. Money transfer from person to person has increased 9.3 percent.
