Undressed and Coated
1.- What should I undress?
- Of everything earthly: what is proper to earthly nature:
- Fornication, impurity, disordered passions, evil desires and greed. Col. 3: 5.
- Of anger, anger, malice, blasphemy, dishonest words from your mouth. Col. 3: 8; Ef. 4: 26-27.
- Of the lie. Col. 3: 9th; Ef. 4:25
- Of corrupted words. Ef. 4:29
- In short, the old man with his deeds. Col. 3: 9; Ef. 4:22.
2.-What should I put on?
- Of endearing mercy, of kindness, of humility, of meekness, of patience. Col. 3:12.
- Of patience, of forgiveness. Col. 3:13.
- In short, the new man, which according to the image of the person who created it, is renewed until full knowledge. Col. 3:10; 2 Cor. 5:17; Ef. 2:10.
Verses quoted:
5 Put to death therefore the earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, disordered passions, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry;
6 things by which the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience,
7 in which you also walked in another time when you lived in them.
8 But now you also leave all these things: anger, anger, malice, blasphemy, dishonest words from your mouth.
9 Do not lie to one another, having stripped yourselves of the old man with his deeds,
10 and clothed with the new one, which according to the image of him who created it is being renewed until full knowledge,
11 where there is no Greek or Jew, circumcision or uncircumcision, barbarian or Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is the all, and in all.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience;
13 supporting one another, and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. In the way that Christ forgave you, so also do you.
14 And on all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be grateful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs.
17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Col. 3: 5-17.
20 But you have not learned Christ like that,
21 If indeed you have heard him, and have been taught by him, according to the truth that is in Jesus.
22 As for the past way of living, get rid of the old man, which is flawed according to deceitful desires,
23 and renew yourselves in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new man, created according to God in righteousness and holiness of truth.
25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth every one to his neighbor; because we are members of one another.
26 Be angry, but do not sin; Do not let the sun go down on your anger,
27 nor give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more, but labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have to share with him that is in need.
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for the edifying necessary, in order to give grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ef. 4: 22-30.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things happened; behold, all are made new. "2 Cor. 5:17.
"10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Eph. 2:10.
