"It takes a village" might be an old African proverb, but it is most definitely suited to keeping up with all the changes in crypto and the new NFT craze that we have also been trying to keep up with.
OK, this will be where this FUDisruptor cryptonaut will talk about all our work jointly, as opposed to trying to keep the different projects separate, but things have developed to where we can finally bring it all together and there isn't one place where someone can get information on it all for a bigger picture on my very ambitious plans. No one has ever accused me of taking the easy path.
Work on Bits N Sense (https://bitsnsense.medium.com/) has been slow because of having to keep up all our other projects, but it surely hasn't stopped.
Construction of the skills training centre in Chicumbane, Mozambique with MESHOA (https://meshoa.co.za/) might have been halted because of the pandemic, but work on funding the projects have not stopped for a moment. Funding things from your own pocket as a freelancer does that.
After explaining my vision of community governed skills training projects, the municipality of Chicumbane (187km North East of Maputo) was the first of many communities that have offered land where we can develop a skills training centres through our PBO and the communities are very eager to do their part by starting with wanting to sign up for a construction course where they will build the facilities themselves through practical training under guidance. Bringing skills training to disadvantaged communities empowers them to fix things themselves.
The NFT craze and the communities that spring from them have inspired us to start Afreekana Arts (https://afreekanaarts.medium.com) to help artists get their media onto blockchain with NFT to open up a whole new market outside of the struggling economies that most African nations find themselves in because of poorly run governments.
We will create the NFT of each piece on behalf of the creators, host and sell it for them through Afreekana Arts on various blockchain galleries, with royalties on any future sales going to the creators of the work.
Since blockchain technology has become such a big part of the work that we do when we're not teaching under a tree in the bush, proceeds from the sales will go into growing the Afreekana Arts community and to support MESHOA in our endeavours to create skills training centres across Southern Africa that give communities the workable skills that they need to make a living for themselves.
NFT technology and clubs have given us the perfect way to involve our supporters in creating a club membership as a holder of a NFT in a special collection that I am working on to create a community of like-minded people who want a vote in the projects that their money has gone to. The bored ape yacht club and the variations thereof do come to mind with all the exciting opportunities they offer their members.
Being a lover of information and technology as much as animals and nature, decentralisation is the best way we can keep in touch while still being out in nature doing our thing. Virtual land will not only enable us to showcase our artists in 3D, but also double up as a place where members can meet. creators and gamers could get involved in NFT gaming and wearables in the metaverse.
All of this will be made available to all the communities we work with by making sure that each location has a computer centre, connectivity and the training to keep things going in the spirit of paying it forward.
