Paseo por el Casco Histórico en Puerto la Cruz, Anzoátegui [Esp-Eng]
Continuando con mi recorrido por la hermosa ciudad de Puerto la Cruz, hoy comparto un paseo por el centro urbano; concretamente, por calles como Bolívar, 5 de Julio, Buenos Aires y Sucre, entre otras que conforman el corazón comercial y urbano de la ciudad. Para llegar a esta zona desde la terminal de pasajeros, se toma la avenida que baja hacia el Paseo Colón, donde esta se cruza con varias de las calles transversales que mencioné.
Hacía años que no visitaba la ciudad y me sorprendió ver a tanta gente en la calle a primera hora de la mañana. Más allá de sus hermosas playas, la ciudad destaca por sus imponentes y grandes edificios que albergan viviendas, hoteles y locales comerciales. A esa hora, el tráfico y el flujo de peatones eran intensos, especialmente en las calles principales; las transversales, en cambio, permanecían relativamente tranquilas, lo que resultaba ideal para tomar algunas fotografías. Desde mi última visita, se han producido cambios, como la apertura de nuevos negocios, una sensación de dinamismo urbano y la renovación de las fachadas de algunos edificios que ya conocía.
Continuing my tour of the beautiful city of Puerto la Cruz, today I’m sharing a walk through the city center—specifically along streets like Bolívar, 5 de Julio, Buenos Aires, and Sucre, among others that make up the urban and commercial heart of the city. To reach this area from the passenger terminal, you take the avenue leading down toward Paseo Colón, where it intersects with several of the cross-streets I mentioned.
It had been years since I last visited the city, and I was surprised to see so many people already out and about early in the morning. Beyond its beautiful beaches, the city stands out for its striking, large buildings that serve as residences, hotels, and commercial establishments. At that hour, traffic and pedestrian flow were heavy, especially on the main streets; the cross-streets, however, were still relatively quiet—ideal for taking a few photos. Since my last visit, there have been some changes, such as new businesses, a sense of urban dynamism, and updated facades on some of the buildings I had seen previously.
Transitar por la calle 5 de Julio resultó complicado debido a las aglomeraciones frente a los comercios y al tráfico vehicular; sin embargo, aproveché la ocasión para detenerme y admirar los nuevos locales y las increíbles vistas de los edificios, con el Paseo Colón visible al fondo.
Uno de los nuevos establecimientos es la tienda Damasco, que cuenta con una llamativa fachada roja y negra que destaca a distancia. La mayoría de estas edificaciones albergan espacios comerciales en la planta baja, mientras que los niveles superiores acogen viviendas, oficinas y, en algunos casos, hoteles. En cuanto a los restaurantes, destaca uno llamado Umaral; su diseño me gustó mucho. Se trata de un edificio con forma de barco que presenta, a los lados, tuberías de escape con forma de chimeneas que sirven como elementos decorativos. En la base, dos hélices de motor evocan la imagen de una gran embarcación. La estructura está revestida de granito, con una sección central blanca y un techo gris; además, la fachada cuenta con una terraza que incluye un hermoso jardín y decoración de estilo náutico. Desde la esquina de la calle Sucre se pueden apreciar los diversos edificios y comercios; allí el tráfico era ligero, lo que me permitió observar los establecimientos con detenimiento y caminar tranquilamente.
Navigating 5 de Julio Street was challenging due to the crowds gathered in front of the shops and the vehicular traffic; however, I took the opportunity to pause and admire the new venues and the incredible views of the buildings, with Paseo Colón visible in the background.
One of the new establishments is the Damasco store, featuring a striking red-and-black façade that stands out from a distance. Most of these buildings house commercial spaces on the ground floor, while the upper levels contain residences, offices, and—in some cases—hotels. Speaking of restaurants, there is one called Umaral; I really liked its design. It is a ship-shaped building featuring steam-venting pipes along the sides that are shaped like funnels, serving as decorative elements. At the base, two engine propellers simulate a large ship. The structure is finished in granite, with a white mid-section and a gray roof, and the front features a terrace with a beautiful garden and nautical décor. From the corner of Sucre Street, one can appreciate the various buildings and shops; traffic was light there, allowing me to observe the establishments in detail and walk at a leisurely pace.
Una de las vistas de la ciudad que más disfruto es la del Paseo Colón; al final de la calle se aprecia un hermoso paisaje protagonizado por el mar azul y abundantes palmeras. Junto a la zona costera se encuentra un restaurante llamado El Rincón de los Bucaneros; su fachada luce la figura de un bucanero y su menú se compone principalmente de platos de mariscos.
Continuando el recorrido, pasé frente a un restaurante árabe, algunos complejos residenciales y un edificio amarillo; no recuerdo haberlo visto antes, pero me gustó su diseño y la forma en que destacaba. Era una mañana tranquila y despejada, con un hermoso cielo azul y nubes que parecían surgir de los imponentes edificios. Tras recorrer aquellas avenidas y admirar la arquitectura, me dirigí a la Plaza Bolívar para descansar, desayunar y conocer el nuevo diseño de la plaza. Fue una experiencia maravillosa volver a visitar el centro de Puerto La Cruz, un lugar que destaca por su energía vibrante y sus llamativos edificios. Gracias por acompañarme en esta aventura.
One of the city views I enjoy most is along the Paseo Colón; at the end of the street, you can see a beautiful landscape featuring the blue sea and abundant palm trees. Connected to the seaside area is a restaurant called El Rincón de los Bucaneros (The Buccaneers' Corner); its façade features the figure of a buccaneer, and the menu consists mostly of seafood dishes.
Moving along, I passed an Arabic restaurant, some residential complexes, and a yellow building—I don't recall seeing it before, but I liked its design and the way it stood out. It was a calm, clear morning, with a beautiful blue sky and clouds that seemed to emerge from the towering buildings. After exploring those avenues and admiring the architecture, I headed to Plaza Bolívar to rest, have breakfast, and check out the square's new design. It was a lovely adventure revisiting downtown Puerto La Cruz, a place that stands out for its vibrant energy and striking buildings. Thanks for joining me on this adventure.
