Boston: The scientists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have succeeded in creating a plant that generates slow light. This plant disperses light by inserting special nano particles into its leaves. Research has claimed that plants with this technology can be used as a street light in the coming time.
Scientists say that the team has had success in preparing plants that can be used as desk lamps. These plants will not need any energy from outside for lighting. These plants will be able to generate light from their own energy. The team says that this plant initially had been luminous for 45 minutes but after several experiments, the plant could now be alive for 3.5 hours.
MIT researcher Michelle Strano says that the team used lusiformis to make shiny plants that transforms the enzyme into brightness. Luciferine works on a molecule that emits light. The second molecule, which is called co-enzyme, helps in the process that can prevent Luciferase activity.
