My plant of the week in my gardens are a few of my roses.
We have a cold North wind blowing this morning and we should have our first hard freeze tonight!
Meanwhile a few roses are still blooming today!
Roses are so sturdy and actually love to bloom when the temps are cooler than 80 degrees F.
These roses are called Knockout Roses, so they don’t look like traditional roses a lot of people are used to.
Also they have been plagued by a disease called Rose Rosette disease, that is actually a tiny mite that can destroy the entire plant!
I’m hoping mine will not be attacked by this tiny mite.
I only do organic gardening,.
We don’t put poisons on our grass,flowers or plants!
Here are a few rose buds that probably won’t open.
The first is an old fashioned, small,white rose on a plant I’ve had in my yard about 25 years!
These tiny roses smell wonderful!
It’s sturdy and takes the heat of our summers.
It’s special, because it came from a rose bush from my sweet mother-in-laws yard.
This last photo is a bud on my favorite miniature, yellow rose bush I keep in a large pot on my back porch.
