Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Ok so I stole the title from a tweet I saw earlier today.
But it was great to see the Melbourne freedom rally. 😃
It was the biggest so far in Melbourne's history and was even bigger than both the previous protest and the Vietnam war protests in the 70s. 💚
Estimates range from 150k to 500k, my sister and others reckon it was probably somewhere between 200-300k easily.
Truthfully last night and earlier this morning I was concerned about agitators trying to cause trouble but thankfully the 300 or so lost souls who turned up to the "campaign against racism and fascism"'s protest against our protest, or the far right as they intentionally mislabel us, and which was publicly endorsed by the traitorous three crossbenchers, stayed to their sorry corner of the street.
It makes me feel just a little bit better seeing they truly are a deranged minority despite being so vocal online. My interactions with some of these people is that many of them lie and use gaslighting in their arguments, much like the government does to them funnily enough.
It also continues to warm my heart to see the many, many good, kind hearted sane people turn up each week to stand up to governmental tyranny. And the numbers continue to grow! I've been following the movement from its beginnings over a year ago and in recent months it is clear now we have the numbers. We can turn this around and are not quite so doomed. I'm actually rather hopeful at last. 💛
