do we go back to our old ways, or adapt to the needs of our home planet.

Adapting is the only way. Change is the only constant in life and it's up to us to go with the flow, to adapt or to keep trying to control and fight everything - even ( our own ) nature - rowing against the stream and dealing with the ever growing consequences.
