You did great! I am happy to read this. I ended my last job (Summer of 2016) burnt out and probably depressed. My boss forced me to write a letter of resignation. This way they didn´t have to give me anything after almost 3 years of working there. The reasonsing was that it was my choice to quit, they hadn´t fired me. The reason I quit was that the work they offered me, after the holidays, would be 10% of stuff I liked and 90% of things I wasn´t looking forward to. That and how little time and energy I had left after work. It drained me, just wasn´t worth the money. Although they treated me like crap, I never regretted my choice. I discovered crypto and the block and blog chain the year after and have never worked for a boss or company since.
I feel you´ve taken the next best step in the right direction. Congratulations!
And yeah, I totally feel you concerning the search for a partner. I haven´t had much luck with that either in my almost 4 decades on this planet, even though some people seem to think of me as an awesome son in law or partner. They are usually already taken or mothers of friends of mine haha. I just haven´t met the right woman at the right time and place yet ,>)
Part of me really likes to be alone, my own space, time and so on though, so sometimes I wonder if it´s just the Universe reflecting that back to me.
I´m sure things will work out for both you and me eventually.
A big hug from Portugal,
Vincent
