I haven't watched The Last Starfighter. I didn't even know about it. After your recommendation It's certainly on m list.

Akira (1988) did a lot to pioneer animation and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) flopped hard trying to do accomplish what Avatar did few years down the road with a bigger budget and improved technology.
