Me ayudo a obtener mi cuenta.

Hi👋🏻, I’m grateful to join the Hive community and walk hand in hand with you all to share moments of life. All of this was made possible thanks to my coworker yonnathang@yonnathang, who told me about you all—and since curiosity is one of my traits, I started bombarding him with questions. He helped me set up my account.

To put things in context 🤭, I’m Vilmary Mendoza. I’m 32 years old but have boundless energy, so I’m dedicated to education—especially in the field of biological sciences. I love sports 🏟️, especially baseball, so I’m always involved thanks to my oldest son, who plays this wonderful sport. I’m from Venezuela; I was born and raised in a very small but well-known town—I’m 100% from Siquisique.

It’s important to note that this town still preserves some remnants from the colonial era, such as several beautiful mansions and a church dating back to the early 19th century, where I spent much of my childhood and celebrated my First Communion, Confirmation, and even my wedding—since, at that time, I was very devout in the Catholic faith. Today, I am an Evangelical Christian, for the glory and honor of God 🙏🏻...

Let me tell you a little about my childhood in that picturesque town—but just a summary, because it would take about 20 hours to read the whole story 🤭🤭. My childhood was a lot of fun because in these towns, the whole family tends to live in houses very close to one another, and the houses have plenty of space with fruit trees. We always gathered at our grandmothers’ houses, whether on my mother’s or father’s side. Since I was always the oldest granddaughter to both of them, I was always the favorite, and my playgroup was mostly made up of two aunts who weren’t much older than me and two cousins. We always played outdoors among the trees, and many times we’d build little houses and even cook over a wood fire and everything 🤭🫣—what a blast those days were!

I attended Ricardo Ovidio Limardo School for my early education; I spent two years there, then I moved up to first grade, where my parents decided to transfer me to a school closer to home, Cruz de Mayo School, where I shared unforgettable moments and met teachers who I still hold dear in my heart—and who, even today, often ask about me when they see my parents 🤭, since I’ve always been known for being a very affectionate, loving, and sentimental person 🥹. I graduated from 6th grade there and moved on to a new world, where excitement, puberty, hormones, and many new feelings came to the surface—“secondary school,” as we colloquially call it here in Venezuela, the high school years, I had the opportunity to study at JARL, the only high school in Siquisique. There, I experienced my first relationship 🫣, which left a lasting impression on me. That person was my on-and-off boyfriend for five years 🫣. I admit I was head over heels for him, and I think that if I ever run into him, I won’t be able to stop blushing—not because I still have feelings for him, but because I admit it was kind of an obsession 🤭. But after a whole romantic drama, we ended up staying friends. These days, I’ve lost touch with him, since after I graduated with a high school diploma in the sciences, I went to study in the great city of Barquisimeto 😂😂

Here begins a new chapter in my life—my college years. At the time, I was barely 17 years old, raised in a small town steeped in tradition, with a macho, hairy-chested, authoritarian father. My dad was overprotective, and when I decided to study in the city, he took control and handled my online pre-registration himself, but when it came time to enroll, he didn’t select the right college or city, since my dad’s intention was to enroll me at a university campus that was an hour and a half away from Siquisique. But fate had other plans for me—he accidentally selected Barquisimeto. Even so, he agreed to accompany me to take the admission exam a few days later, but unfortunately, I didn’t pass the exam. That same day, however, I was recruited by groups called “student collectives” to fight for a spot; According to them, we had to fight for our right to an education. My dad didn’t agree with that; he told me that very same day that he’d already given me the chance to do what I wanted and that if I didn’t pass the exam, it was because it wasn’t right for me—and that the best thing would be to study in my hometown at a university founded by the government. But I didn’t want to, since I didn’t like any of the majors they offered. Being the persistent and brave person that I am—even though I was absolutely terrified 😱 of my dad—I mustered up my courage and one day ran away from home around 2 a.m. to attend a very important meeting I had with the student groups to secure my spot. I ran away, but with the intention of going and coming back, At that time, when my dad realized what had happened and saw that my mom was worried, he got angry and told her that, as far as he was concerned, his eldest daughter was as good as dead. He was angry and disappointed 😞 because throughout my entire adolescence, I had always been very obedient to everything my dad ordered me to do.

My mom told me that she mustered up the courage and told him she wouldn’t mention it, that he should thank God that I just wanted to study and better myself, and that despite my decision, she supported me and trusted me—that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and that he had forced me to do things that way. I can tell you that that day I cried all the way to the city, feeling very sad and worried, since it was the first time I’d traveled alone—still a minor and disobeying the person I looked up to most—and I knew my dad was going to hate me because I knew him so well. That same day, I returned after finishing my errands. My dad looked annoyed, and my mom, looking scared, said to him, “Your daughter’s back!” My dad didn’t answer her, but when he saw me, he asked, “Are you hungry?” Frightened, I said yes, and he told me to sit down next to him to eat. I’m sure that God touched his heart at that moment, thanks to my mom’s prayers—even in the midst of her worry, she never stopped praying that God would calm my dad’s fiery temper. That dinner, filled with silence and awkward glances, changed everything. Because from that day on, my dad gave me his vote of confidence and his support—which continues to this day. When he talks about his eldest daughter, he always does so with pride, because my disobedience wasn’t driven by some crazy idea or a mere whim—it was simply to better myself and become the great person he’s always wanted me to be. Today, I love my parents with all my heart and am grateful for everything—the scoldings, the punishments, and all the advice they gave me, which, in one way or another, shaped my life for the better.
