Hi Steemit! We are happy to return with episode #2 of Beach Cleanup. We did not have to go far from home to find another beach in desperate need of a cleanup. This time we were joined by one more friend and two local Thai girls.
As you can see again littering is a real problem for small beaches. Not many people visit them and therefore no one is really assigned to take care of them compared to the popular ones by local authorities to protect tourism.
Some of the rubbish is washed up by the sea, but also a lack of education on waste management among locals, means that mini shanty towns at the back of beach use it as a waste disposal area.
It was a hot day in Phuket so we waited until just before sunset to make the task a bit easier on ourselves.
This rubbish you see here on the beach is no longer there :)
It is hard work on your back bending down to pick up everything and it took us about three hours to complete the cleanup. Tomorrow we will be all probably visit a Thai massage for our backs :)
Mission completed! A great feeling! Here you can see just a few of the black bags we filled.

It is not very often you see a foreigner driving a motorcycle with a sidecar so we gave the locals something to joke about as we drove it all to the rubbish disposal!
