Was denkt ihr?
Was denkt ihr?

The German-Russian Nord Stream pipelines exploded. Who did it?
While the media in Austria immediately blamed Russia after the explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines became known and from a distance considered both pipelines "irreparably" damaged, I don't see the matter so simply.
German expert sees Russia behind attack on Nord Stream pipelines
...[Nord Stream is] irreparably destroyed since the explosions at the beginning of the week
DerStandard
Somehow it doesn't make sense to me that the Russians would destroy their own pipelines to Germany. It is possible, but it seems strange to me.
Let's assume in the following that it really was an act of sabotage and not an accident (that would also be possible).
By blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines, Russia would increasingly and in the long run remove itself from the market as an energy supplier and make it easier for Germany to supply more and more weapons and support to Ukraine.
Second, the destruction of Nord Stream 1 and 2 (there is reportedly still one of the two NS2 pipelines intact) means that it becomes more difficult politically to demand that the pipelines be brought online in an energy crisis.
Third, the U.S. alongside Ukraine have always been the biggest enemy of the Nord Stream pipelines, and even before the war did everything it could to prevent Germany from importing cheap gas directly from Russia.
The U.S. even imposed sanctions against the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines and repeatedly delayed the project and exerted political pressure to prevent the pipeline at all costs. All this was done even before the war and not entirely altruistically. USA is one of the largest suppliers of LNG.
Shortly before the outbreak of the Ukraine war, Biden then told the EU what it would have to do if Russia invaded Ukraine. Halt Nord Stream 2 immediately and stop buying gas from Russia. No matter if this destroys the German economy.
Profiteers of the exploded pipelines are also Ukraine and Poland, since Russian gas can now no longer be delivered directly to Germany without passing these countries.
Arguments for the Russia hypothesis are demonstration of power and to escape possible penalties for non-delivery.
A demonstration of power could also have been cheaper for Russia, for example with the destruction of only one pipe or an explosion near the new Baltic pipeline from Norway.
I also think that threatened fines are the least of Russia's problems at the moment. So far, Russia has always found creative excuses why it can't technically deliver gas, and could ultimately blame the sanctions.
In any case, I could imagine also the U.S. or Ukraine themselves to have sabotaged the German pipelines. What do you think?
For Germany, the destroyed pipelines are a big problem and I am getting more and more worried how the German industry and households will survive.
LNG gas from the U.S. or wherever is simply too expensive in the long term and then there is also the nuclear and coal phase-out in Germany and other wrong decisions.
Replacing gas with oil may be possible in many cases, but is also too expensive in the long run. The transition to renewables takes decades and requires gas as "green energy". Germany is slipping more and more into a substantial energy crisis with the destruction of the pipelines.
What do you guys think?
