Austrian newspaper thinks NFTs are dead 🙈

Die österreichische "Qualitäts-"Zeitung DerStandard glaubt, dass NFTs tot wären 🙈

Dabei macht die Zeitung gleich mehrere Fehler in der Überschrift.

Erstens sind NFTs viel mehr als nur Kryptokunst. Es gibt Gaming-NFTs (Splinterlands), Token-Projekte wie CryptoPunks und sogar digitale Briefmarken von der Österreichischen Post (crypto stamps).

Zu behaupten, dass NFTs als Technologie gescheitert wären, wäre so ähnlich, als hätte man nach der Dot-Com-Blase behauptet, das Internet wäre tot. Das Gegenteil war der Fall.

Es stimmt zwar, dass der NFT-Markt zusammen mit dem Krypto-Markt gecrasht ist, aber es werden zum Beispiel immer noch CryptoPunks für Hunderttausende Dollar getraded.

Der Artikel irrt sich auch im Anfangsdatum 2020. NFTs gibt es schon viel länger (2015) und der erste große Hype war bereits 2017 mit CryptoKitties.

Stimme aber zu, dass der Hype absurd war, die Technologie ist es aber nicht.

Was sagt ihr dazu? Verstehen die Autoren NFTs?

The Austrian "quality" newspaper DerStandard believes that NFTs are dead 🙈

Thereby the newspaper makes several mistakes in the headline.

First, NFTs are much more than just crypto art. There are gaming NFTs (Splinterlands), token projects like CryptoPunks and even digital stamps from the Austrian Post Office (crypto stamps).

To claim that NFTs failed as a technology would be akin to claiming the Internet was dead after the dot-com bubble. The opposite was the case.

While it is true that the NFT market crashed along with the crypto market, there are still CryptoPunks being traded for hundreds of thousands of dollars, for example.

The article is also wrong about the 2020 start date. NFTs have been around much longer (2015) and the first big hype was back in 2017 with CryptoKitties.

Agree, however, that the NFT hype was insane, but the technology is not.
