Winter is Coming - Sunday Freewrite

Sorry for not posting recently. It's been another difficult time for my daughters and myself - and the difficulties are not over, though there is finally light at the end of this tunnel.

I still have many pictures from England to share with you and pictures from our year in Wisconsin before moving to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan - where I've wanted to live for many years now.

This area just feels right for me - lots of nature, lots of wildlife... land that I might be able to afford in another year or so. A place where I can look forward to retiring eventually. I don't plan to change areas/regions again.

At the moment, we are nearing the end of the autumn colors. The view is often stunning right now and I regret that I haven't had much of a chance to photograph the beauty that is all around me. And the approaching snowstorm may put an end to many of the leaves.

Anyway, one of the cool things (quite literally) about where I live is the snow. We can expect over 168 inches snow annually... that's like 14 FEET of snow (or 4.3 meters) every single winter. As someone who has, historically, always hankered for more snow, this seems like the perfect place to be. (Except that there are places around here who actually average more snow!)

Right now, we're actually under a winter storm warning for tonight through Tuesday, expecting 6 to 11 inches of snow where we live, but probably a bit more than that where I work Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully, my car (complete with new tires) will be able to cope with that! (My car is not going to last much longer, so just praying it lasts long enough for me to find its replacement!)

With so many leaves still on the trees, this much snow is likely to have a greater impact than usual, bringing down trees, limbs and maybe power lines along with them... Gotta keep some batteries handy!!!

Anyway, that will be it for this time - hope that I can do some more posts soon.
