I'm taking you along with me as I create a new card deck for myself. I will create it with an American Indian theme as I did once before. What is Lenormand? - check out my previous article.
Card 21 - Cliff
I ventured away from the Mountain this week because I live in the mountains and this card is meant to always be interpreted negatively and mountains aren't that to me... nor to many of the Natives. So, I changed it a bit to be closer to the meaning of the card... Cliff.
When we think of the Cliff, we tend to think of:
- large, immovable obstacle
- things are at a standstill, with a long, steep patch ahead
- you have to be a climber to get over (or around) this one
- getting over/around this obstacle will be a great source of pride and relief - it can be done.

For my new card, For my new card, I hit Google Images search, looking for something with CC0 (Creative Commons 0) licensing meaning that I don't always have to remember to credit someone - essential if I were to start doing paid readings with these cards.
I also had to find out which traditional playing card is associated with this card. So, here is my result:

Again, I felt that the cliff better represented the original meaning of the Mountain card as a true obstacle to progress. I felt this particular Native image added the correct ambiance - one of concentration and determination to overcome the obstacle - and even a touch of depression about the fact that the cliff is in the way of progress.
I really like the result.
