Artistic license is an interesting thing. It excuses all multitude of sins. This song is no exception. Although there is a clear theme to the song - one of believing in oneself no matter what you've done to make you wonder about your abilities to reason... the lyrics don't really make a lot of sense to me.
(Apparently, the song is supposedly about bullying, but I'm not really convinced that it's a very strong member of that campaign.)
Just as well, because if you take a look at the mish-mash of animals/plants from divergent places on the planet, the video makes no more sense than the song does. Macaws (the brightly-colored parrots in this video) are from the Amazon and Central America, the tiger is from Asia, the elephant from either Asia or Africa depending on the species, the tarantulas from Central America, then there's an African hornbill and pampas grass from southern Argentina! It's a bit of a mess.
Beyond that, however, the video is bright, entertaining and a lot of fun - just don't expect any degree of accuracy!
Original
Roar by Katy Perry
Roar presented by Chestersee
These guys start with a cute intro (some language) story, then launch into a very-well-done, multi-part cover - then return to the story at the end with an anti-bullying theme.
However, the success of their counter attack sort of throws another stream of doubt that the original song is about bullying.
Roar/Thunder Mashup - presented by DJ Flapjack
As a rule, I'm very suspicious of mashups. I find they rarely work - in fact there was another I looked at tonight that I closed very quickly! But this one just works - even with the way this person's mashed the videos as well. I enjoyed it.
Chore - presented by Peterson Farm Bros
I've featured this family before, so I was pleased to see their parody of this song. The brothers have excellent voices, did a great job with the lyrics and use the video to share a part of life that many have never seen first hand, let alone actually experience it for themselves. I'm grateful for these guys making their parodies a way for people to see farm life - and get to know a set of farmers who are just regular guys in every other way!
WTF selection of the day
Roar - presented by andrew-story
This really is an OMG moment!
Imagine these friends of yours create something this awesome for your wedding day! They've managed to get their faces nicely into the place of Katy and others within the song. The lyrics are fun and their vocals are decent. This is totally worth watching.
I doubt we're going to get a repeat performance from them, but it's awesome!
Meow - presented by The Pet Collective
Okay, I played this for my girls - not expecting to like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story is excellent, the lyrics well-written, the vocals decent enough. The kitten is sure a cute little fella, as they are at that age - when they're not getting into lots of trouble!
Today's Finale!!!
Game of Thrones parody - presented by The Warp Zone
I featured this parody back when I did Demons, but wanted to feature it again when I did the other songs. This is extremely well-written, acted and sung.
I've given you the link at the time stamp when "Roar" begins, but the whole song is worth listening to.
That's it for today! I hope you had as much fun as I did!
As usual, I'm simply sharing YouTube videos on a theme, all rights remain with the original.
