I was working on one of my playlists today and figured I'd feature one of the groups I've got to know - and like - over the past few months. This one is a Norwegian singer who goes by the stage name: Katastrofe.
His given name is Petter Bjørklund Kristiansen. He is from Fredrikstad, Norway. He has had a number of hits over the past decade or so of his stage career. I will include a few of them here.
Read more about Katastrofe on Wikipedia.
Fun pop song. I think he's improved since then. Apparently, it peaked at no. 11 on the Norwegian charts.
Here are the lyrics - I couldn't find them in English, so if you're on Chrome, right click and translate to English.
I think this is already a much catchier song, really making his place in the pop stage. Though it didn't rise as high on the Norwegian charts, only hitting no. 16.
Here are the lyrics - I think it's a fun song lyrically as well.
I think this is the song that introduced me to Katastrofe. Alexander Rybak won Eurovision for Norway in 2009. I've been following him ever since. I think their combined styles work really well. The video is cute too with the various scenes including Katastrofe helping Alexander fiddle. This song peaked at no. 12 on the Norwegian charts.
Here are the lyrics. It's interesting the current trend to have videos that have almost nothing to do with the lyrics - except that they're talking about all the things that are so typically Norwegian - including types of food and hobbies (such as knitting mittens) displayed in the video.
This is Katastrofe's big success thus far, hitting no. 1 on the Norwegian charts in 2017. It's such a charming song about a man who no longer wants to be with his girlfriend (he doesn't want to be tied down - so typisk!) His solution? Singing the song she hates! Okay, serious subject, but a light-hearted, catchy approach to it.
Here are the lyrics. Very fun song despite everything.
Beautiful ballad about life going down the toilet and needing help from Mom and Dad. I think it deserved a higher place on the charts than no. 16.
The lyrics are beautifully tragic.
Katastrofe has quite a few other songs as well, but these are some of his highlights and some of the songs I like best of his. Give him a listen, maybe you'll want to add him to your playlist too.
That's it for today! I hope you had as much fun as I did!
As usual, I'm simply sharing YouTube videos on a theme, all rights remain with the original.
