It's just a event to encourage Staking. 1st of every month is hive Powerup day that means you are encouraged to Stake your Hive and increase your Hive Power.
Also we have 2nd of Each Month as POB PowerUp Day, where we are encouraged to stake our POBs, Make sure you join #bpud on 2nd.
