Its few days to children day,the children will be so excited because most parents will have to take them out.I went for a naming ceremony last weekend and i got to understand the reason and significance of naming a child.There are so many names in the world and now is the time for the parents of the baby to pick a name,the question is do you just pick any name ?No,you should pick a name that will like to manifest in the baby's life.
You won't just pick a name like Jabez,Goliath,Judas or Lucifer and so on but you pick names like David,Samuel,Joseph,Timothy,Esther,Deborah even other native names but mean good things why?You will like your child to have the good qualities of these people in the bible,you want them to grow in the way of the Lord.

Names goes a long way in life,look at people that have bad names using Jabez as an example
The name Jabez is Hebrew (yabetz = יַעְבֵּץ) for "distress or pain" his mother stated "I gave birth to him in pain".Jabez was labelled with "sorrow" at birth.The good thing about Jabez is that he identified that there is a problem and he didn't sit idle about it he sought the lord to change his name,his destiny,his future.
The prayer of Jabez found in 1 Chronicles 4:10 reads as follows, “Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!’And God granted his request.”
God in his infinite Mercy changed his destiny and Jabez defied his hopeless name, In fact, 1 Chronicles 4:9 says, "Jabez was more honorable than his brothers......there is power in prayer.
If you are from a non-christian home and you find out the meaning of your name which doesn't have a good meaning like Jabez,don't just sit idle about changing it,pray till God enlarge your territory and change your name like Jabez.
