Volkswagen today unveiled the long-awaited ID.7. It is a limousine almost 5m long, in the design of which special attention was paid to aerodynamic opymalization (Cx = 0.23)
The car is drived by a new Volkswagen drive unit (which I have already written about here) with a power of 286 PS (210 kW). Depending on the battery, the range on a single charge will be up to 700 km, and the charging power has been increased to 200 kW.
Because it is a design dedicated to electric drive, the designers could use the space inside the car much more efficiently. Exceptionally large space was found especially for passengers in the rear seats.
Inside we can see a new cockpit concept. A large central display (15-inch, which also handles vents and air conditioning), a small display built into the dashboard behind the steering wheel, freely assignable favorites buttons and a head-up display with highly developed augmented reality functions.
An interesting fact is the electronically dimmable panoramic sunroof, rarely found in this class. It can be switched between opaque and transparent settings by touch or voice control using the new IDA voice assistant.
The optional front seats offer adaptive seat climatronic – with cooling or heating as required and also a drying function.
The Travel Assist with "swarm data" can take over lateral and longitudinal control of the car. The system can also support assisted lane changing on the multi-lane motorway at speeds above 90 km/h. The car can park itself in various ways, e.g. with memory function (over distance of up to 50 metres). The driver can sit in the car or supervise the maneuver from the outside using a smartphone.
The launch is planned for this year in China and Europe, North America from 2024.
