In my experience fear is a paralyzing agent, it can surely lead you to take some than other actions, which could be classified as impulsive, but usually leads to inaction. This does not mean that everything that comes out of fear is negative, or that fear is bad per se, but to a large extent I would say that it is a more limiting agent than anything else.
I don't think that the people who fought to win the freedoms that we can decide (and I think that is the right word) today if we want to exercise were afraid, I think they had chosen what kind of life they wanted to lead and they had accepted the consequences. I also believe that most of us make these kinds of decisions all the time, we do not need a crucial moment of choice, but at every moment of our lives, we choose everyday, with our actions, it is not necessary to be an activist to fight for the things that we are in favor of, we just need to live a life accordingly. That makes a big difference.
I understand what you are saying, here many people have confidence in the measures that the government takes or at least do not question them, so I would be in a position similar to yours. But I'm at a point where so much has already been lost, overall, that it doesn't even matter anymore, so I made passes with that, concentrating only on what's in my control. So it wouldn't really be fear, but simply dissent.
I don't care about long comments, I like long comments, they entertain me for a while.
Greetings to you!
