Right, I am not saying that everything that is evident is true, nor that the truth is necessarily evident at first sight, but that once the truth is understood it must be evident, if it is not evident, then you don't understand it, and if you don't understand it, you must not consider it to be true.

Now, playing along, if the truth is ugly and nobody wants to look at it because of it, then it must be obvious, and they can all see it, but since they know it is ugly, they prefer to ignore it. If they really did not know the truth then they would not know that it is ugly, and they would probably be trying to look at it.
