While today marked the debut of Apple's new line of products, here in the cryptosphere (and specifically the buzzing HIVE world) the real big event of the day comes in the form of a new mining opportunity that just went live earlier this morning! Yes, I'm talking about Koinos and the KOIN miner that just activated today.

Why this is so exciting should be clear to all STEEM/HIVE veterans that reside here. The STEEM dev team is at it again to redesign from the bottom up a new blockchain architecture to solve the shortfalls of STEEM/HIVE. Specifically, it should allow for greater use-cases by providing a more seamless operational capacity and onboarding experience. This blockchain will be able to scale and upgrade with significantly greater ease than what has been seen to date, and if use-case is what matters most, the hope is that Koinos might be able to make a meaningful impact in the cryptosphere.

That said, we come to the distribution phase of the token. KOIN mining is not going to be cheap. ETH gas fees alone will mean that a full-time running rig could end up costing several thousand dollars in transaction fees (although this fully depends on the settings one sets).

I for one couldn't help to get started ASAP. Just two proofs submitted within the first 4 hours and I already have north of 500 KOIN in store.

Considering a max 100,000,000 tokens are expected to be generated during this distribution stage, even a mere market cap of say $100 million (which seems more than reasonable for a 3rd gen blockchain as that would place it in the top 100), could lead to promising returns for early miners.
