With the launch of Cub Finance, there was a steep learning curve not only in the world of decentralized finance, but more specifically in the cross-chain environment of BNB. Not every one is as well-versed in the "other" blockchains out there outside of HIVE/STEEM. For some like me, understanding BNB is like jumping into another country unprepared to speak the language. I also forgot how simplistic HIVE can be relative to these other blockchains.
Here's the main takeaway I learned in a few short hours that took me by surprise:
BNB can represent several things. The BNB on Cub Finance is Smart Chain, which uses the BEP20 token BNB. You NEED to convert/bridge any BNB you might get from other exchanges into Smart Chain in order to interact in CubDefi.
For those not familiar with Binance, such as myself, if you don't want KYC or you're a US citizen, you need to use an external bridge such as the one provided by the Trust Wallet app.
Here's their app:

So ultimately I had to watch this video to figure things out:
Finally, having gone through the tedious steps of converting my crypto into Smart Chain BNB, I could finally send it over to my MetaMask address, which was re-configurated to utilize the Binance Smart Chain. Apparently that's the easy part and can be followed using the tutorials in the documents below.
