As a pianist you need to have good knowledge of your chords so you will have options and be able to improvise when playing. So today, I would like to share some of the court I know everyone on this platform... I know that most of the Chords are already known (thats why I called it basic) by most players out there but I know there is someone that will be blessed by this post......now most of the posts you will see online will only explain it with letters and staff but I do this with so-fa notations.....
CHORD
A chord is two or more notes played silmultaenously together...
MAJOR CHORDS
These are chords of your major notes in the chromatic scale....
MINOR CHORDS
These are the chords of your minor notes in your chromatic scale...
DIMINISHED CHORDS
these chords are derived by flattening the 3rd note from the root note by a semitone....
For example we have ...
D - D, M, S.....
When you flatten the M to RE...... We now have
D - D, RE, S....the full chords are...
AUGMENTED CHORDS
These chords are derived by sharpening the 5th note from the root note by a semitone ....
For example, we have....
D - D, M, S....
when you sharpen S to SE.....we now have...
D - D, M, SE.... the full chords are
Now from this chart... We can see that some chords have the same notes.... Eg...
Augmented L and major F
Augmented M and major D
Augmented R and major LE...
Now with this codes you can see that you have varieties of chords to choose from.....
Note: most of this chords are used in contemporary music ....
