It was too short, just 3 full days together with 2 flights – my first time in Greece, not another Greek island, but the Continental part of the country, where I never was before and now when I visited there for the first time, I’m really-really dreaming to spent there some more time ASAP! A place of stay was The Westin Resort Costa Navarino – the huge and far from the central part of Greece resort more oriented for a destination for family getaways in Messinia, than for loner-traveler seeking Anthropological experiences. But this time I was accompanied by the big “company” of 300 co-workers, so it’s really was like family time with many parties, pool time, drinks and almost no walks around this beautiful area.
During this visit, I used my regular DSLR FF camera with Sigma 35mm attached. I also used a tiny Ricoh GR1s but took really few exposures, so I’m not sure when these images will see the light. I was very light and minimalistic with my camera's choice and i happy about the results, even I wanted to see much more than I was able to.
This time I publish more seascapes and images of Antiques I saw in Methoni Castle along with the beautiful lagune and wonderful Fortress.
The Castle of Methoni is a medieval fortification in the port town of Methoni, Messenia, in southwestern Greece. The castle of Methoni occupies the whole area of the cape and the southwestern coast to the small islet that has also been fortified with an octagonal tower and is protected by the sea on its three sides. Its north part, the one that looks to land, is covered by a heavily fortified acropolis. A deep moat separates the castle from the land and communication was achieved by a wooden bridge. The Venetians built on the ancient battlements and added on and repaired them during both periods that they occupied the castle. (from WIKI)
This time I decided to publish this series in black and white tones, exactly like I imagined the look of my pseudo-travel photographs. The Black and White edition expresses very well this hot day and the dry, burned by the sun area around the Castle.
