Lagos Nigeria is one of the fun, must crazy and central for all business. There is always this slang lagosians do say that “if you live in the city of lagos and you are not wise, then it is assumed that you can’t be wise till you die”.
Lagos as a whole is full of the different tribes, countries who had come to earn and make business but the most interesting things which seem scary is their level of area gangsters, crazy public transportation and their weird conductors.
My experience, when I took a bus to my work place still cannot get of my head.
I was listening to music while in the bus, my music was loud enough to my hearing but to my greatest surprise, when I got down, my phone was stolen. How it happened, trust me, I have no clue. These guys are way too smart, and sometime I wonder if they use charms as well. This incident happened months ago and just yesterday evening while I was coming from Abuja, a city inhabited by the most "smartest" Pickpockets, I used to think that I was probably the last person a "learning" pocket-picking street urchin could ever outsmart.
My most memorable encounter with those dreaded touts yesterday kept me pondering all day. Before my very eyes, and in the shortest known flash to a man, I was dispossessed of my phone. Funny enough, I was forced to sheepishly grin while the whole drama was unfolding. The fact I was spotting the NYSC khaki maybe informed their devilish decision. The misdirecting antiques and approach of the "master" pickpocket was inexplicably laudable. Honestly, I was thrilled.
But thank God for the spirit of timely revelation. Though he succeeded in picking the phone without an iota of suspicion, before he could say Jack Robinson I realized the larceny. I got my phone back from him without hassle.
In my conclusion, the smartest pickpocket in Abuja is a "learning learner" in Lagos.
I hate to see this happen to me, am probably thinking of joining a kick boxing training around. This is ….
