To some of you, both names mentioned in the title might not be familiar.
Well, I'll briefly enlighten you.
Khor Virap is an Armenian ancient Monastery, dated back to 7th century when the original chapel was built, and 17th century, when the current monastery around was built.
It is situated on the border between Armenia and Turkey (8km away), facing mountain Ararat, known in Christianity for Noah's Ark resting place.
The monastery itself is notable due to the fact that Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned there for 14 years by king Tirades 3rd, whereafter he became king's religious mentor.
On a side note: Armenia was the first country in the world who adopted Christianity in 301 century and was declared first Christian Nation.
