Being good is what almost everyone wants, and people desire to have good people around them because they can be rest assured that they'll be in safe hands, but being around a terrible person is unsafe because of their cunning nature. But what qualifies someone to be said to be a good person? What are the major qualities that would qualify someone to be called good? Is it honesty, carefulness, patriotism, or something else? Below I'll state my personal take on these and why. So without further ado let's get to it.
When talking about the quality that makes the most meaning when you want to recognize someone as being a good person, personally, I'll say it's integrity. And that's because I see integrity as a habit recognized from someone doing the right thing regardless of if someone is watching or not. In my opinion, I believe integrity is the foundation of all other goodwill and qualities humans exhibit. When someone has integrity, such a person will obviously be an honest individual who will treat others well, keep to promises, and take responsibility, among many other things to name but a few.
There are people who have the opinion that when you say someone is good, they'll think you're talking about someone who's academically sound, intelligent, talented, successful, or kind, but we must understand that possessing all those doesn't necessarily mean you're a good person, especially when you don't have integrity. Integrity is the core to being a good person because it inspires every other good trait humans could possess.
I know there are several other traits that could make someone a good person, especially traits or qualities like compassion, courage, humility, or empathy. These are amazing qualities, but then I stick with saying integrity is the quality that stands out when saying someone is a good person, even though someone having compassion obviously would help and take care of those around them, but then I think integrity is almost similar, because integrity helps you do what is right, and doing what is right is helping and caring for people, which is exactly the purpose of compassion.
So that's about it and why I pick integrity as the best quality when describing a good person, and it's because integrity kind of encompasses all the traits for every other quality we can use to define being a good person. What do you think is the quality that best defines someone being a good person? Is it the same as mine or different? If so, kindly share in the comments section.
