However, if you happen to get a job because you've the necessary certificate, it doesn't mean you can sustain such positions based on the same certificate. What can make you sustain the job is your ability to exhibit the skills the certificate shows you possess. And I believe you can agree with me that with the above examples, we can see that both are important in our world today, but the question isn't which is important, but which is most important between both, so here's my take on that if we're to compare them.
Personally I believe skills are more important in our world today, and that's because you've got past the age of when you needed this certificate to get a job, because back then you'd be employed in almost any field because you had a certificate, even if you'd have to learn what it takes to work in that organization on the job. And that's mostly because there were few educated people in the world back then, but fast forward to the present day, a large percentage of the world population are educated, meaning being able to read and write isn't enough anymore. Now people need the real thing, and that real thing is your skills. That's what you can do that'll elevate the organization. Your certificate can't improve the income of the organization, but your skills can, and that's why I said it's the most important when we try to compare which is more important between a certificate and skills.
However, in conclusion, I'd like to say that while I believe skills are most important, I'd still like to conclude by saying a combination of both is the best approach to putting yourself in the limelight in our world today. Imagine you've got a certificate, still have the skills, and have a wealth of experience in doing that particular thing before; you can boldly work in any place with confidence. Why? Because the truth is that a certificate can help you open doors you might not have been able to open, but then your ability, that's skill, will determine if you'll stay in such a room or not.
