Mosaic of the seasons, photography taken in Louvre museum, Paris
In the fourth century, this vast pavement decorated the reception room of a rich Roman villa in Antioch. It has a very elaborate composition : a luxuriant vegetation serves as a showcase for the allegories of the Seasons and four large paintings illustrating real or mythical hunting scenes. The border is adorned with genre scenes punctuated at the corners by figures of Virtues. It measures 8 m on the side !
