May 8 is Parents' Day in Korea.

The national observance of Mother's Day was in accordance with the decision of the State Council in 1956.
Later, when Father's Day was mentioned, it was designated as Parents' Day on March 30, 1973.
On Parents' Day, children attach carnations to their parents.

Parents' Day originally originated from the custom of England and Greece to visit the church on the first to fourth Sunday of Lent, and around 1907, a woman named Anna Jarvis of the United States distributed white carnations to church members in memory of her mother.

Currently, only my mother-in-law (wife's mother) is alive, so I went to my wife's house last week.
There are many flower shops near the World Cup Stadium in advance, and I bought carnations there.

When I went to my wife's house, wife's elder sister and her daughter came first. I enjoyed the trout sashimi bought by wife's elder sister.

The next day, May 6, my mother-in-law had a bad cough, so I went to the hospital with her, and we had lunch at a barley rice restaurant. I also gave her pocket money.

There's a saying, "You have to do well when your parents are alive, what's the point of regretting it after you die?"
I totally agree with this statement.

한국에서 국가적으로 어머니의 날을 지키게 된 것은 1956년 국무회의 결정에 따른 것이다.
이후 아버지의 날이 거론되자 1973년 3월 30일에 어버이날로 바꾸어 지정되었다.
어버이날 자녀들은 부모에게 카네이션을 달아드립니다.
