You can either be a nude model being photographed or the photographer taking the shots of a nude model, which do you choose and why?
As a professional photographer, there are two things that I have engraved in my mind: 1. This is my passion and passion becomes work and 2. You have to be prepared for any kind of photography, with experience it becomes "natural". And that's how it is, because over time we have lived in a constant social taboo, pointing out the person who is different and creating a toxic picture because of prejudices that live inside others.
When you are a photographer, all the pictures you take have to have your personality and your art captured in each shot and nude photography, for me, is an art form that has been with us since a long time ago, when we didn't even exist. So, if I had to choose, it would be to be a photographer, because a direct, uncensored shot can be seen in two ways: pornographic or artistic, and that artistic part can only be achieved by someone who has a previous knowledge in photography and the right language with a defined eye to what you want to convey through photography, which undoubtedly will always be a powerful way to attract attention.
But of course, it is not usually easy, taking a portrait with a nude model is something more complicated than it seems, since everything will depend on our personality and the security that we show to the model that this is something 100% professional, you have to talk, otherwise the atmosphere will become heavy and tense, you will tremble and think that the model is thinking the worst of you, so it is important to always convey confidence and professionalism, otherwise you will block your creativity and your eyesight will be blurred. I could highlight several points as tips for those photographers who have not yet done nude photography, however, these tips may vary in each person and the good connection you get with your model, but, relax and enjoy the process is my first point of view.
It is very important to know beforehand the theme you will use, if the photos can be taken with natural light, much better, because you get out of the common studio with an infinite white background, where the viewer will only focus on the attributes of the model. So that erotic and artistic photographs, without becoming pornographic, is not easy, so seeing references also helps a lot. Talking to the model beforehand helps her to feel confident with you, showing her some references is not bad, so she also approves that the pictures she is seeing, is something that will happen and she agrees. Also make it clear from the beginning that no matter how much it sounds like an order, words like: look down a little, don't smile so much, fix your hair, straighten up. It is not the intention, you are focused on the photograph you want to achieve than on finding the most appropriate words and that is already part of you and your personality as a photographer. Above all, if you touch a sensitive subject, change it as quickly as possible and deal with the situation with maturity and professionalism. And most importantly "Music", this is a must or your session will be tense and uncomfortable. The type of music is up to you, but make sure it's a long set so you don't have to keep changing the music all the time, as your concentration will be dispersed. I usually place in a photography session, a set of music that lasts 1 hour and so I calculate my session time in peace and without nerves.
So if you see this as a profession and you can be able to lead and take control, you will enjoy this process as a photographer.
