Soma day's ago I posted a #monomad entry photo of a peregrine falcon. A awesome bird who looks real sweet but in real can be a real hunter. The falcon at the bird of prey workshop looked realy relaxed but when they showed us where the bird is capable of....wow.... With high speed (above 360 Km/h) on to it's victim... From hig up in the sky waiting for the attack....and when it does... His prey didn't even know what hit him (or her)....
The bird is slim and full of muscles though flexible. It has to be otherwise it wouldn't be so acrobatic in the air :)
He gets it's speed by diving, because of his streamline and the gravity the speed is getting higher then a lot of cars can even drive :) Imagine being overtaken on the road by a bird while driving 200 plus !! :)
Because these birds are eager to learn, they are quiet easy to train (the instructor told us). They do that by swinging a rope with a piece of meat, the falcon takes it and flyes away... Awasome to see it in real.
At first I was a bit afraid the guy would hit the bird with the rope, but they are not for nothing called "Falcon eyes" :)
Have a great evening,
Peter
