I had already written about Floor from Nightwish somewhere last week. She is participating in a Dutch program "The Best Singers". Nightwish is a Gothic band. In itself this is a fairly popular genre and the Netherlands is very strongly represented with (classically) trained singers.
The Gathering
One of the first bands to follow a Gothic movement in the Netherlands was The Gathering with volcalist Anneke van Giersbergen.
She still sings in different projects but her breaktrough was with The Gathering. Although it wasn't Gothic 100% , some metal elements in it, they were quiet populair in Holland and in asia. one of their biggest hits is "Strange machines"

The song has a mystic vibe with those heavy riffs on guitar.
You can say that The Gathering is one of the first bands who opened doors for this type of music...Which later on some other came trough :)

Sharon den Adel is the vocalist of one of Holland's most famous bands "Within Temptation". The trademark of Within Tempation (actually for a lot of Gothic singers) are the dresses Sharon wears and of the bombastic music course.
One of their biggest hits in the charts was certainly "Ice Queen"
The Netherlands was or is too small for this band. We have a large and wide audience, but in continents such as Asia the audience and fans of this music are many times larger. As in Germany too, by the way.

In april next year they are performing a show in Amsterdam together with Evanescence. It's a special show because both (world famous) bands are bundling their powers in a great show. I'll bet there will be some great crossovers and duets..
After forever
After forever is the first band of which Floor Jansen was in the spotlights. She joined the band when the band was already a long time busy with trying to get recognition but with only deathmetal it didn't work out that good.
When Floor sang in After Forever she was asked to become the vocalist of NightWish (which is not Dutch). From there on she (and the band) got famous in the circle of metal / Gothic with a big fanbase.
For Floor her particpating in the show "The Best Singers" is I think such a good move for her but also for the things she does.NightWhish has been shown many times during the show and Floor sings a lot of different repetoire.

Simone Simons is the front-woman of the Dutch band Epica. It's a classical / Gothic band whith (also) a great fanbase. In fact a lot of fans visit the concerts of all bands in this post :)
I do like the music of Epica but I have a little less with the grunting of the male singer.
The band has a long trackrecord in albums, they have release 13 albums already.
