Today I received the Google home mini, it's got the size of a small bluetoothspeaker (which it is too). All you had to do was install the Google Home app (Which I already had because of the Chromecast) and you're set to go. It is kind a awkward to talk into 'the room' and then something is happening, but it is fun to see it actually works.
You can play music trough your television (Spotify) or trough the build in speaker. Although the mini has a small speaker and isn't a real substitute for the conventional speakers. I heard that the Google Max has a great high end speaker, perhaps for the future :)
You can connect with maximum 6 different users, therefore you all can connect with your own music (spotify or for instance Google Music).
It's also possible to give voice instructions to watch television or Netflix. The cool thing is you can give the name of the serie and a certain episode and Netflix starts exactly with that episode of that serie. Pretty cool isn't it.
Although there are about 1500 devices that can be connected our Domotica system isn't prepared yet. That's to bad but I believe it will be in the near future. You can make your own applets though trough IFTTT (If This Then That)
I haven't really gotten into that because there is so much to discover about the Google Home system itself.
Some nice features, whe I say:
I am surprised by the options of this device and truely believe there is a great market for these kind of IOT (Internet Of Things) technology.
Of course I did a little research about the safety. Although it isn't as safe as google want's us to believe I do think for the purpose I am using it now it is ok, it uses 256 bits encryption of all the messages and text sended to Google from which the Key (at this moment) is hard to hack, but also that technology will grow... So it will be waiting for the first connection (thus external use of the Google Home) being hacked and used... So always use common sense, also with these types of devices..
