Abba, they're all hot again. What no one ever thought possible, or no longer believed in, has happened... Abba has released a new album.
for the observant reader, I wrote a post about Abba a long time ago. It's kind of a guilty pleasure, although I'm not ashamed of anything. It goes all the way back to my childhood. My mother was absolutely crazy about Abba, she collected every newspaper clipping about Abba. she even went so far as to order music books from Sweden with songs from Abba. And realize, back then there were no cell phones and no internet.
So you can say that I grew up with the music of Abba. Is that bad? no not at all because I still think it's great music. It's timeless, something you can't always say about contemporary music.
If you listen to the music carefully, it turns out that the music is so wonderfully put together, just bizarre. he thought of everything. The bass lines are simply sublime, chord progressions so bizarre and the recognizability is des abba's....
I've listened to the new album and this is the real Abba sound, on the one hand I think that's so special but on the other hand, that's what they've produced all these years, so that's the way they compose music... Doesn't take away from the fact that it is of a special level if you can still compose such songs after all these years.
Together with my mother I visited the concert in Ahoy Rotterdam in 1979. even though i was very young i can still and really remember it. Part of history, the only world tour they ever did and I was there :).

The way old Friends do.... A song I remeber being one of my grandfathers favorite. It's bombastic and emotional (to me).... Whenever he visited us, my mother and my grandfather would listen to this song.

I think "The day before you came" is one of Abba's best songs. The melody and chords gives a atmosphere of really a woman telling her story.... In the clip you see a interview with Benny about the creation proces of the song. Interesting to hear the story behind the song.

Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! , this live version shows it all... They are perfectionists, some great musicians behind them... A massive vibe on stage.... This song has a lot of energy and is (like the most of abba) very catchy.... Fun fact, this clip is taking at the one and only worldtour Abba ever did.

One of their new songs, I still have faith in you".... 2021, but still the original Abba sound... Isn't that wicked....
My kids are saying I am a fool, but this song goes on the stereo on the highest volume possible :)

It's the same with this song, Don't shut me down, it's so Abba. It could have been a song from their last album 35 years ago but timeless...
With their new album they broke records again. They survived 35 years of silence and still are alive among a lot of people, even teenagers.. That's just awesome. Next year they are playing a load of gigs in londen. a pitty they won't be playing live but as a hologram. Therefore I decided not to go, there will be a live band but with Björn, Benny, Annifrid and Agnetha as a hologram... That's, for me, like getting to drive in a Ferrari but there is no fuel in it :)
I did bought the album on Vinyl and a original t-shirt of the new album. In will put them both in a photo frame for in our mancave :)
