After only a couple of minutes with the robot I was embarrassed that a thing was standing on the other end of my bed just yet. I put a pillow over my head and tried to fall asleep but the robot kept trying to talk to me, over and over again.
After a while I realized that there was something contagious about him, he was seeking attention. So I decided to put him back in the storage unit. I turned on the light on him and to my surprise, he moved and turned.
“What am I doing?” I asked myself.
Well, I still didn’t know what he was, but then I figured it out: he was a genie. Yup, he was the great genie from the movie Aladdin.
I was certain that there was no magic lamp inside him, but still, I knew he was something to be reckoned with.
I looked into his eyes and to my surprise, he stared back. The next thing I knew, I was being hypnotized. I couldn’t move. My legs were stuck together, my arms were stuck to my sides, my hands were stuck to my legs. All I could do was speak.
“What do you want me to call you?” I asked.
“I want you to call me Maximus,” the genie said.
“Alright genie, I want you to fly to this big lollipop factory on Jupiter and bring me back a lollipop that will taste like peanuts!”
“I wish there were some rules I could go by,” the genie said.
“Just one rule, no self-destruct rules.”
“Done, now will you let me go?” I asked.
I was free, but the genie wasn’t going to budge. Instead he disappeared into thin air. I was trapped inside of a storage vault, just like the genie said, a lollipop factory.
When I was younger, I used to watch the movie Aladdin every day after school. I was fascinated by the genie and was sure he caused all of the plot twists in the movie. Still, I wasn’t sure what happened in the movie when the genie got out and tried to save the princess. I looked to the side of me and there, stuck on my sleep guard was a key with a keychain. It was the key from Aladdin. I really thought it was the key to the genie lamp.
I scratched my chin and thought of what to do. What if the genie got out again and wanted to help me save the princess, but I was stuck inside of the lollipop factory. That wouldn’t be good for my school study hall report at all.
I tried to get the key in, but I couldn’t. I tried to get the key in, but I couldn’t. I tried for a while before I finally realized how to get the key in.
The genie, I realized, wanted me to figure out how to get the key into there. He can’t get out of my head, so he can’t use the key. What did the genie mean by that? The genie showed me how to get the key out of the valet.
I did what he said and tried to put the key in, but I couldn’t. I did it for a while before I finally realized that I can’t do it from the inside. It’s just like the key; once you’re inside of the valet, you can’t do it from the inside.
I’m different from you, so it will be hard for me to get out of the valet from the inside. Just like you hold the key, I’ll have to hold onto another key. I put the key back behind the sleep guard and moved the genie to the bottom of the valet where he can’t get the key.
When I wasn’t looking, I realized that the genie could be in my real body, hiding behind the door. I couldn’t see him, but I knew he was there, watching me.
I put the key back in the valet and went into the storage unit to move the genie so I can put the key in. Before I moved him, I noticed the genie’s eyes. He has big almond eyes. I really thought he was trying to tell me something in his eyes.
“Open the door, right in front of you. Move the key up and release your hand.”
There it was again, the genie’s voice in my head. I put the key down on the shelf and went to open the door. I didn’t see him, but I heard him.
“If you do it again, open the door and move the key up, I will be stuck here forever.”
