Hey gamers, how are you all doing? I hope you're doing excellent. I'm doing great, and today I want to share with you everything that went down in mission #10 of the PvE. There aren't many missions left for me now, and I have to say, ever since mission number 9, these last ones have gotten a lot more difficult. So, without further ado, let's get into it.

What is the mission about?

This time we have to fight against the Thousand Sons, the heretics, since the Astropathic Relay on Avarax has gone silent once again. Our job is to go in, investigate what happened, and purge every bit of heretical energy we find along the way.

If you've been following this series, you already know Avarax is a planet that keeps coming back in these missions. We've been through its streets, its fortresses, and its ruins in different parts of the PvE, so returning to the Astropathic Relay feels like closing a loop of sorts. This is the same place that plays an important role in the story of the campaign, so it's pretty cool to see that this parallel squad has to go back and make sure nothing evil is left lurking inside. It also adds an uneasy feeling right from the start, because when a relay that was supposed to be secure suddenly goes quiet, you already know that whatever is waiting inside isn't going to be friendly.

Advancing toward the Astropathic Relay

The first stretch of the mission is all about making our way toward the relay, and the Thousand Sons don't make it easy at all. Right from the beginning, you run into groups of heretics that attack with a mix of ranged fire and sorcery, forcing you to keep moving and avoid staying in the open for too long. Compared to fighting Tyranids, who simply throw themselves at you in huge numbers, these enemies are a lot more tactical, taking cover, pressuring you from different angles, and punishing you if you're not paying attention to your surroundings.

One thing I noticed is that this section demands a lot of awareness. You can be fighting a group in front of you and suddenly realize that another one has been flanking you the whole time. The pace is quick and it doesn't really let you breathe, which fits perfectly with what I mentioned before about these last missions being a lot harder than the first ones. Even with a decent loadout and a squad that knows what it's doing, you can feel the difficulty bump the moment you step into the first big combat encounter.

The atmosphere here is also worth mentioning. The area has that dark, ruined look that Avarax is known for, with damaged structures, dim lighting, and strange glowing marks that remind you the forces of Chaos have been here. As you get closer to the relay, the tension builds little by little, and you can feel that something is waiting for you deeper inside.

Diving into the Corrupted Sanctuary

Once we get inside, the mission changes its rhythm completely. We dive into the Corrupted Sanctuary, a place that looks like it was once something sacred and orderly but is now twisted by heretical influence. The architecture is really impressive, with several levels, long hallways, and rooms that feel more and more unnatural the deeper you go. You can tell the developers wanted this place to feel like a descent into something wrong, and it works really well.

Fighting here is different from the open areas outside. The spaces are tighter, and the enemies come at you from places you don't always expect, so you have to be careful with your positioning and make sure you and your squad stay together. This is also where you start running into some of the stronger heretic enemies, the ones that hit hard and can take a lot of punishment before going down. Mixed in with the regular soldiers, they create encounters where you constantly have to decide who to focus on first and when to switch between your ranged weapon and your melee.

What I like most about this section is how it manages to keep the tension high without relying on a constant wall of enemies. Sometimes the game gives you just enough time to catch your breath, and then it throws something at you that immediately puts you back on edge. That rhythm of calm and chaos keeps you engaged, and by the time you reach the lower levels, you're already low on resources and wondering what could possibly be waiting at the bottom.

And let me tell you, the answer is not a pleasant one.

Eliminating the Vortex Beast

Down in the deepest part of the sanctuary, we finally come face to face with the final boss, the Mutalith Vortex Beast, a massive creature twisted by the warp that seems to drag the reality around it into chaos. I faced this terrifying beast for the very first time in this mission, and honestly, I wasn't ready for it.

This thing is enormous, and the fight is a real test of everything you've learned so far. It smashes the ground with its claws, throws out attacks that cover huge areas, and unleashes storms of sorcerous energy that force you to constantly keep moving. There's very little room to stand still, and the moment you get greedy and try to land one more hit instead of dodging, it punishes you hard. On top of that, you also have to deal with the enemies that show up during the fight, which makes it even harder to focus on the boss itself.

The visual spectacle is incredible too. The arena twists and warps while you fight, with energy swirling around the beast and the whole space feeling like it could fall apart at any moment. It really sells the idea that you're not just fighting a monster but something that has bent reality itself to its will. Every time you manage to dodge a big attack and land a few hits, it feels like a real victory, and getting through the whole fight takes patience, good timing, and a lot of teamwork.

I highly recommend you enjoy the video attached to this post so you can see this incredible battle in detail. It was my first time fighting this fearsome beast, and watching it all play out gives you a much better idea of just how intense and chaotic the whole encounter really is than words alone could ever show.

Final thoughts

As you can see, gamers, this has been an extremely challenging mission, where we're not only testing our skills but also our ability to move forward fast enough to complete the objectives without dying an absurd number of times. There were definitely a few moments where I lost count of how many times I had to restart a section, but that's part of what makes finishing the mission feel so rewarding. Honestly, I'm loving how the difficulty has been ramping up in these final missions. It forces you to actually use everything you've learned, from your class abilities to your weapon choices to your overall awareness of the battlefield. And with the Vortex Beast, the game gives you a boss fight that feels truly epic and memorable, the kind you'll want to come back to just to improve your run and do it a little bit cleaner next time.

I'm looking forward to the missions that are still waiting for me, and I'm curious to see if they can top this one in terms of spectacle and challenge. Until then, thanks for reading, and see you in a next post!
