Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Sharing My Splinterlands Journey
Greetings everyone, I am vaynard86 from Singapore and glad to be sharing my journey in Splinterlands thus far in my first Social Media Challenge Post.
How it all began?
I love mobile gaming and have been playing them during my free time off work. Games that I played previously include Clash Royale, Dragonball Legends, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links and Rise of Kingdoms to name a few. And often such games will have "pay to win" elements such as opening chest/spinning wheel to get rare, epic and legendary cards which is highly dependent on RNG and without them, you will always be at the bottom of the food chain and very soon you will feel pointless playing the game, money that you've spent on opening chest/spinning wheels will vanish into eternity.
Then through watching some random video over YouTube, i chanced upon Splinterlands.
What did I find unique about Splinterlands?
This game brought back memories of me playing Magic The Gathering Cards with my friends. Though there are other mobile games involving trading cards such as HearthStone, Legends of Runterra and even Magic The Gathering Online itself, there is just something different that is in Splinterlands.
Why so? Most of these mobile games, the items you pay to win (commanders, gems, cards, heroes) are non transferrable and even when in excess, it is stuck with you in your account. But in Splinterlands, the community spirit is strong to help one another and there is opportunity to play2earn (not pay into thin air).
New players are not left alone, there are plenty of resources available in Discord and also within blogs/posts on various platforms sharing strategies and how to grow in this journey. Not only that, there are many people ready to pay it forward to the community by delegating cards to help new players kickstart their play2earn journey earning DEC. I myself have experienced this delegation and thankful to my delegators for helping me to grow.
On top of these, there is a rental system available in game where players can rent out cards or rent cards at a fraction of card cost to earn for card owners and to use for players to get into higher leagues without the having to buy the card. This unique ecosystem takes care of big investors and small investors to grow in the game.

As I journeyed on, I chance upon a community from Singapore, my home country from this blog post and got connected to them.
