Prelude
Hello everybody, how is it going? It's time again for Battle Mage Secrets. I am enjoying the sharing of my Battle Mage Secrets and also reading the sharing of other players sharing as well, really help me with understanding the ruleset and tips from other players.
The ruleset of the challenge this week is: Armoured Up.
Ruleset Spotlight
Armoured Up
All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.
Abilities/Cards that get shutdown with this rule set
While having additional armour is amazing, we need to remember that magic attack is something that bypasses armour. So with this rule set, the presence of magic will just overrun any armour put up unless there is Weak Magic as well, which I will be showcasing later. Piercing likewise goes beyond the armour and cause direct damage.
What thrives with this ruleset?
Void Armour works real well here as magic damage will hit armour before health, so this will do well against opponents whom fielded heavy magic lineup. Consider using reflect for this rule set since likely we will be facing opponents with a full magic lineup
Abilities such as Repair, Rust and Shatter gain much more value in this ruleset. With everyone having armour, Repair can occur on any monster since everyone started with minimally 2 armour. Rust help gain advantage by shaving off the gained armour from the ruleset. Shatter become much more valuable by smashing any armour and bring it to zero, this is where Immortalis become so scary by giving Shatter to every single monster in the lineup.
With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Opponent Lineup
Prediction before pressing rumble
It's that Llama again with its buddy Kron. Gonna be a rough one, especially with Failed Summoner which can cause me to take quite a fair bit of magic reflect. I am hoping for Terraceous Hulk to tank sufficiently to allow my backline more time to do more damage.
Battle Synopsis
Round 1, Uneventful round 1 other than my Terraceous Hulk soaking all the damage.
Round 2, Both Terraceous Hulk and Pelacor Mercenary fell. More attacks flew towards Failed Summoner. Mycelic Slipspawn took over the taunt role.
Round 3, Failed Summoner fell and the artillery continues among the magic attackers.
Round 4, Goblin Thief fell with Mycelic Slipspawn continue holding up with Spirit Hoarder healing.
Round 5, Goblin Psychic from my opponent lineup fell. Now its down to their last 2 cards and 1 card away from Last Stand activation
Round 6, Opponent's Queen Mycelia fell and Last Stand activated on Kron.
Round 7-10, Kron vs everyone. My own Queen Mycelia and Madcap Magus fell before Goblin Psychic landed the final blow on round 10 to secure the victory.
Post Battle Summary
Another victory against the sickening Llama clocked! I am so glad I manage to put up a lineup that played well to the rule set.
Terraceous Hulk did a good work holding the front, taking a myriad of blast from my opponent for 2 turns before falling to grace.
Queen Mycelia's additional 2 armour on top of 2 armour given by the Armoured Up rule set was critical to help my team to sustain longer which my opponent did the same.
The two healers Goblin Psychic and Spirit Hoarder helped to ensure the front and backline are sufficiently healed up to keep us in the game.
Mycelic Slipspawn took a fair deal of punishment as well after Terraceous Hulk fall and sustained till the end.
Did my strategy work? In Armoured Up rule set together Weak Magic, I managed to deploy all the cards in my arsenal that can take advantage of the armour boost. I am really glad all of them played to their full capability and did me proud against a Llama Mage opponent. The additional armour from protect further bring sustainability.
What's the Battle Mage Secret? Making use of the Armoured Up ruleset, boost my armour using Queen Mycelia. Putting Terraceous Hulk right at the front with big armour was important as well as it will take a long time to shave off its armour before backline was exposed. I added additional cover through Mycelic Slipspawn to take over the taunt so that big attacks can be born by it than my relatively low health middle line. In the event there is no Weak Magic, I will consider change Madcap Magus to Scavo Hierling to repair the armour of Terraceous Hulk to boost the effect of Void Armour.
