Today I want to show you the steps of drawing horse picture.

For drawing I used:
paper of format A4;
pencils hardness 4H, 2B and 7C;
colored watercolor pencils KOH-I-NOOR: white, black and two shades of grey.
First I put on a sheet of paper the contour of the horse with a pencil 4N.

Then I draw the most, in my opinion, light parts - hoof, mane and tail. 4N first with a pencil lightly outline the main lines, then darken 2B and 7B, the darkest tone here gives a black watercolor pencil.
The mane and tail trying to draw the lines that look like hairs, from the beginning of growth to the tip. But hooves are filled with hatching.
The next step I draw the front leg in the background. There are not as many color transitions.
I'm hooked and gray watercolor pencils. Also did some work on the hooves, they seemed too bright. Did a little bit clearer the face and neck part.
Then I decided to paint the rear leg in the background. With her I had to suffer, it was necessary to draw the tendons and muscles, and areas with different shades here anymore, and they are smaller.
I can use a pencil eraser - it is convenient to do the highlights with smooth transitions, removing a bit of paint.
I also found that if you go white watercolor pencil on top of the simple hatching is well shaded and out of the graphite Shine. In the future, I often used it.
Then I moved on to the back foot in the foreground. It was even harder, I drew even and swollen veins.
Moved to the rump. Still first paint a light shading 4H pencil to sketch the location of the light and dark areas, brighter then draw with pencils 2B and 7B. And only when convinced that it turned out similar to the photo, put a layer of watercolor pencils.
Continue to paint the trunk of the horse. While not trying to shade, I need to put the basic color transitions so that it's easier to work on.
But the line drawn from veins 4H pencil with a good pressing.
The turn to the last unpainted legs. Darken the chest and gradually move on to the neck.
Finally, I draw the horse's face. In my opinion, this is the hardest part, because at the slightest touch and shadow expression changed.

If you compare the last photo with the final version, I was well see how the shadows affect the overall picture. Adding another layer to the muzzle lengthened it, made more expressive, and the neck after the blackout became more muscular.
