Did you know that ..
There's a full-time job for defending our planet from aliens. NASA's official title for this position is 'Planetary Protection Officer', and it's existed since after the US signed the Outer Space Treaty in 1967. The job involves keeping Earth and other planets safe from contaminates, and it pays up to $187k.
They even have some objectives too. These are a few of them:
- Preserving our ability to study other worlds as they exist in their natural states;
- Avoiding the biological contamination of explored environments that may obscure our ability to find life elsewhere – if it exists; and
- To ensure that we take prudent precautions to protect Earth’s biosphere in case life does exist elsewhere.

This sounds like a dream job, right? But what's the catch? I guess that we will find out only if some of us will take the job.
