I'm from Igbo, but I'm just realizing that they are called Igba boys, we call them a different name "Nwa Boi" or An apprentice in English.

This Igba boys system like you stated have really elevated so many families in the Igbo tribe, given hope to the boys that couldn't further their education or struggled to survive.

The boys are being taught to be humble, business smart, street smart and intelligent with prices.
Above all, it encourage legit source of income and hardwork, that's what I really admire about it.
